The 1911 Comes Home: Trenton OWB and Lexington IWB Now Fit Traditional 1911s

There are handguns, and then there is the 1911. More than a century after John Browning's design was adopted by the U.S. military, the traditional single-stack 1911 is still the gun a huge number of serious shooters reach for — and now two of our most popular holsters are built to carry it.

We're excited to announce that the Trenton OWB and our top-selling Lexington IWB now support traditional 1911 handguns. If you've been waiting for a made-to-order, molded-to-your-actual-gun holster for your 1911, the wait is over.

What “Traditional 1911” Means

When we say traditional 1911, we mean the classic single-stack pattern Browning designed, though we also support the modern double-stack “2011”-style guns as well. Because the traditional 1911 has been built to a remarkably consistent pattern across manufacturers for decades, a properly molded 1911 holster fits a wide range of the makes you already know and trust.

We are accommodating the 4.25 or 5 inch barrel length 1911s with a rounded trigger guard. With or without attachment rail doesn't matter. We support both.

If you're unsure whether your 1911 is covered, the fit selector on each product page lists every supported make and model. When in doubt, reach out, we'd rather get you the right fit than guess.

Trenton OWB: 1911 Concealment Without the Bulk

The 1911 and outside-the-waistband carry are a natural match. OWB carries the weight of a steel-frame gun comfortably on the belt, and the Trenton was designed specifically for concealed OWB, not bulky duty rigs.

Designed by Dave Spaulding of Handgun Combatives (and sold for years as his “Enhanced Handgun Combatives EDC holster”), the Trenton wraps and bends with the contour of your body to minimize printing and tuck the gun in tight under a shirt, vest, or jacket. Highlights for 1911 carriers:

  • Body-hugging concealment design that pulls a full-size 1911 in close instead of pushing it off the belt
  • Open-bottom construction that accommodates longer barrels — so a 5″ Government model sits comfortably with the muzzle clearing the end
  • Optics-ready with a generous sight channel that clears nearly all suppressor-height sights
  • Right– or left-hand configuration
  • Built from .080″ Boltaron/Kydex — 25% thicker than the material many other makers use
  • Ships with threadlocker so your hardware stays put

Lexington IWB: Our Top Seller, Now in 1911

The Lexington is our flagship inside-the-waistband and appendix holster, and the 1911's thin single-stack profile is exactly the kind of gun it was built to disappear. For a platform with this much character, the Lexington gives you the customization to dial in comfort and concealment to your exact setup:

  • Fully ambidextrous body — one holster works for right- or left-hand carry
  • Concealment wing and claw options to rotate the grip into your body and kill printing
  • Customizable foam wedge to bring the rear of a 1911 in tight and balance its weight
  • Adjustable sweat-guard height and extra keel length for all-day comfort against a steel frame
  • A full range of belt attachments: DCC Monoblock, PTD Soft Loops (standard and tuckable w/ struts), and 1.5″ slotted DCC Clips — covering 1.25″ to 2″ belts
  • The same .080″ Boltaron/Kydex build and precise, molded-to-your-gun retention

FAQ

Will a 1911 holster fit all 1911 brands? Traditional single-stack 1911s share a highly consistent pattern, so a properly molded 1911 holster fits many makes at the same barrel length and frame configuration. Rails, trigger guard shape, and frame variations can change fit, so always confirm your exact model on the product page's fit drop-down.

Does the holster clear the thumb safety and beavertail? Yes. Because every KSG holster is molded over the actual firearm, the fit accounts for the 1911's external thumb safety, beavertail grip safety, and hammer.

Is the 1911 a good gun to carry concealed? The 1911's slim single-stack profile makes it one of the flattest-carrying full-size pistols available — well suited to both OWB concealment (Trenton) and appendix/IWB carry (Lexington), especially with the right wing and wedge setup and a proper carry belt.

Can I carry a full-size 5″ Government 1911 in the Trenton? Yes. The Trenton's open-bottom design accommodates longer barrels, so a full-length 1911 sits comfortably with the muzzle clearing the end of the holster.

Which is better for a 1911 — the Trenton OWB or the Lexington IWB? It depends on how you carry. The Trenton excels at comfortable, concealed OWB belt carry of a heavier steel-frame gun, while the Lexington is built for inside-the-waistband and appendix carry with maximum concealment tuning.
