One of the major advantages to the Sidecar style of holster is that it is wide, reducing possible pressure points. You know what makes it even better? A closed cell neoprene foam wedge. 🙂
I had been making my version of the Sidecar, the Velox, for more than a year and unsuccessfully trying to apply traditional wedges to it before finally hitting on this version. As far as I know, no one else is doing this, probably due to the extra labor. It’s not difficult, but it does take a little time.
It comes as a rectangular pad with the velcro, which is not attached, but due to variations between manufacturers, it isn’t cut to the final form. Measuring ~3″ x 4.5″, it’s easily trimmed to your needs. Watch the video to see how it’s done:
