Your average t-shirt not only exposes the arms and the neck but it also has relatively little protection from UVA and UVB light. Protection is measured by UPF Ratings and your average shirt has a UPF rating of 15.

These sun shirts have a UPF rating of 50+. To put that in context, that means they block 98% of the sun's rays.

They are also long-sleeved. This is a counterintuitive approach as we generally associate long sleeves with cold weather, however, protecting yourself from the burning sun ultimately keeps you cool and preserves your energy so you can focus on what is important.
