This page contains information, instructions, and resources to assist you in ordering holsters as well as adjusting, customizing, and tweaking your holster to help you conceal and carry comfortably.

Use these quick links to jump down to a specific section:

Hand Orientation

Several of the KSG holsters for sale are ambidextrous meaning you can remove the hardware (screws, nuts, wings, clips, etc) and move them to the other side to change the holster from right-handed to left-handed or vice versa.

When ordering if you choose Right or left-handed we will install the hardware for use accordingly. If you select Ambidextrous we will not install the hardware at all but will include it in the package for you to self-install.

Also, please note if you select a "Full Height Sweatguard" when ordering we will make the "back" side of the holster full height but the "front" side of the holster will remain mid-height to allow for easier reholstering. This will to a small degree make the holster less ambidextrous heights of the front and back of the holster will not be the same.

Belt Width

KSG Holsters are sold with clips compatible with 1.5" or 1.75" belts. If your belt is less than 1.5" tall or wide the holster will still work but will not be as secure.

1.5" sized clips are by far the most common that we sell. If you know you carry with a larger 1.75" belt you can select 1.75" clips when ordering.

If you want more flexibility of belt size you may consider ordering your holster with the "PTD Soft Loops" which are adjustable from appx 1.25" to 2" belts.

When in doubt, choose 1.5" Monoblock, DCC Clips, or order the PTD Soft Loops

Belt Attachments

KSG offers a number of different belt attachment options including:

  • No clips - Enigma Optimized
  • Pull the Dot (PTD) Soft Loops
  • DCC Monoblock
  • DCC Clips Mod 4 Universale (slotted/height adjustable)
  • DCC Clips Mod 4 Shorty (cant adjustable)
  • Struts with PTD Soft Loops or DCC Clips
  • RCS Clips

Not all are available with all our holsters.

DCC Clips and PTD Soft Loops WITH Struts are tuckable.

When in doubt we generally recommend the 1.5" DCC Monoblock

Claw / Wing

Wings or Claws are generally designed for Appendix carry positions and are designed to add back pressure on the holster to better "tuck" the grip of the gun along the curve of the body increasing concealment.

We currently offer 3 wing/claw options:

  1. Modwing
  2. Darkwing
  3. RCS Claw

The Modwing tends to be the most popular because it has 3 different height adjustments, is ambidextrous, and is available in a light-bearing optimized version.

The Darkwing from Dark Star Gear is not ambidextrous but is available in left or right-hand configurations. It can be adjusted by cutting the material away to the desired height.

The RCS Claw is only available for right-handed holsters and is not adjustable.

When in doubt we generally recommend the Modwing

Sweatguard Height

The front of the holster, which is the side facing outward away from your body, will always be cut to mid-height.

When ordering some of our holsters you have the option to choose the height of the sweatguard on the back side of the holster which is the side that faces and comes in contact with your body.

Some prefer the full-height sweatgaurd as it can potentially protect the finish of the firearm from sweat and protect the body from the hard and potentially uncomfortable edges of the firearm.

Another reason some prefer the full-height sweatguard is that is can potentially make reholstering the firearm easier and safer by providing a contact surface on the back of the holster against which the gun can index as you reholster.

However, for our ambidextrous holsters, choosing full height for your sweatguard may make it awkward should you ever flip the holster over the other hand orientation.

When in doubt we generally recommend full-height but bear in mind that will make it less ambidextrous friendly

AIWB Length

This is one of the more confusing options for our customers but is one of the best "hacks" to making the holster work well for you.

Traditionally a holster is trimmed in length to the same length as the gun and that is what you will get when you select "same length as gun" when ordering.

However, we have found that extending the length of the holster to be longer than the slide/barrel length of the gun has 2 important effects for most concealed carriers when carrying in the appendix position:

  1. It increases concealment by counteracting the "push" of the grip of the gun above the waistline by the body outward away from the body. It effectively keeps the holster more upright and less angled away from the body. This "keel" principle is a well-understood and researched concept in the concealed carry community.
  2. By spreading out the pressure of the holster in contact with the softer points of your groin, you reduce the amount of pressure in any one given spot and remove the hot spots that create discomfort.

For this reason you may also choose these options when ordering most of our holsters:

  • Extend it: this will cause us to extend the length of the holster appx 1 inch beyond the length of your firearm.
  • Long boi: this will cause us to make the length of the holster as long as we can which may be anywhere from 1 to 2 inches beyond the length of your firearm.

When in doubt we generally recommend the "extend it" option if you plan to carry in the appendix option, especially if you carry a sub-compact or micro-compact firearm.

Wedges

Wedges are designed to help with both comfort and concealment.

Wedges increase concealment by counteracting the "push" of the grip of the gun above the waistline by the body outward away from the body. It effectively keeps the holster more upright and less angled away from the body. This "keel" principle is a well-understood and researched concept in the concealed carry community.

Second, wedges increase comfort by placing a soft and padded material between the holster and the soft points of your groin and body.

Our wedges are attached to the holster using velcro and they will come unattached so you can customize the position of the wedge on the holster yourself.

This also allows you to remove the wedge at anytime should you decide you don't want to use it.

When ordering you can choose from 4 options on our site depending on if you want your wedge in wedge or block shape and if you want a short or long wedge.

Short: The short wedges are 2.25″ inches wide and 3 inches long

Long: The long wedges are 2.25″ inches wide and 4.25 inches long

When in doubt we generally recommend the short angled wedge, especially for appendix carry.

Threaded Barrel - Open or Closed Bottom

When ordering if you select "threaded barrel" we will leave the bottom of the holster open. This is recommended as it allows for objects and dirt to fall out the bottom of the hoslter to protect the gun and reduce risk.

Further, this allows for use of the BarrelBlok and other potential dry fire and safety attachments on the gun.

When in doubt we generally recommend selecting threaded barrel as it allows for unwanted/unexpected objects and lint to fall out the bottom of the holster

Attachment Assembly - Changing Hardware
